Step
3: Child places picture cards in sequence and tells story
from memory. |
Step
1: Child reads book without picture clues. Words are phonetically
controlled for each level. "The Red Fox" is the
first level with 3-letter phonetic words. Subsequent readers
use blends, consonant and vowel digraphs. See Waseca
Reading Program for more information.

Step
2: Child lays out picture cards, reads and matches text
cards to the picture cards. (both sets of cards are numbered
on back for self-checking.)

4: Child writes story in blank book and illustrates. |
