The African Grassland Mat is first in the series of Biome Theatres designed for primary aged children as well as elementary. With plastic animals for each character, it tells a story of animal behavior. Included are picture and text cards that tell the story in a sequence numbered on the back of the cards. Having heard the story, the child practices enacting it with the help of the sequence cards. Eventually, the child becomes a storyteller and may share the story on the circle, having friends act out the parts. Included are animal track stamps to tell the story in tracks on paper and grammar labels to extend the work for elementary children. (3 to 8 years)
