| Needing a space we can call our own... |

Over the years of our operation, Waseca has benefited from the hospitality of Friendship Christian Church and has also leased an old farmhouse renovated for our use by one of the founders. These two locations are within a mile apart and constitue a divided campus. A consolidated campus would allow us to operate more efficiently; sharing resources, focusing our energy, and bringing our community together. The time is now. We have purchased seven fertile acres of property on Tallassee Road. This is the land we have been waiting for on which we can create our visison. Our vision for Waseca’s new home includes classrooms filled with light that open onto outdoor spaces, community gardens, and an environmentally friendly, energy efficient building. A central gathering place would facilitate family events and could be shared with other groups on evenings and weekends. Teachers and parents would be directly involved in the planning process to create a space that fills our needs.

Waseca
classrooms fill each year through word of mouth. Since we rarely advertise,
many people are not aware of the educational Our goal is to raise $300,000 to make this vision a reality. Our effort will offset certain operating expenses and strengthen the financial stability of the organization, helping us to extend our offerings to more and more families over the years while keeping tuition as low as possible. It is time for Wasec to come into its own- its own space. It is time for the Athens community to recognize that the work we are doing is making a difference in the lives of children at a very impressionable age- at an age when they are forming many of the beliefs and attitudes towards learning and living that they will take with them into their future and ours. |
